Part 2: New Associated Press Poll Finds That it May Be an Even Better Time for Real Estate Agent Marketing

Back in late May we took a look at an Associated Press poll which found 64% of the respondents thought it was a good time to invest in real estate. (For Part One click here.) Many who had read the article were surprised. How could the results differ so greatly from the media and the pundits who, for the past year, have had very little if anything positive to say about the market?

As best selling author of Freakonomics Steven D. Levitt suggests, “”An expert doesn’t so much argue the various sides of an issue as plant his flag firmly on one side. That’s because an expert whose argument reeks of restraint or nuance often doesn’t get much attention.”

Fortunately we can follow public attitude  toward real estate investing with this re-release of the same poll:

Associated Press

Date: Jun. 02, 2009

Results:

good time to invest 74%
bad time 25%
don’t know 2%

Universe: Country: United States
Method: telephone
Sample Size: 1,000
Additional Information: Both landlines (n=800) and cell phones (n=200) were used.

You’ll notice that public opinion toward “buying” has improved.

So what does this mean for real estate agent marketing? It means real estate agents need to remind their business network that they’re ready for referrals. Remain optimistic  and encourage your referral partners to convince prospects to consult you before deciding not to “buy” or “sell” based on information gathered from a talk show.
