About My Business:

My name is Cristal "Young" Carter , an aspiring music producer/engineer, and I was born March 1st, 1994 and raised in Indiana all my life. My musical career launched back in 2007 when i was only 13 years old. My older brother introduced me to a program named Fruity Loops 8. I started to slowly teach myself the process of making beats using the demo of this program and continued to experiment with it almost everday. I first started off making nothing but various types of hip hop. As my knowledge in music production grew I branched out to different genres within R&B as well as pop/club music. My mother was always on my side to help and tell me her opinion and where she thought I could make improvements to my music as honestly as possible. Hearing feedback on my music by everyday people as well as my mother on things that attracted someone's ears, I began to upgrade my sounds and variety of instruments while developing my own unique style of music and beat structure. When I was still early into my music production career I had a genreic hip hop sound so I always looked to switch up my style so that my music could stand out. In 2009, I had just bought my very first MIDI keyboard which was a Casio CTK 2000. I practiced on it and went by ear since I had no formal teaching of how to play the piano previously. This was my starting point of really getting more in depth with creating R&B music. I learned how to play chords on the piano and learned basics like the notes that were played on each key. I took a word of advice from a fellow producer to play sounds in two different octaves to make my sounds much thicker. I got more into pop as well later that year. In the year of 2009, I had made a final decision that I loved making music so much that I would make it into my future career though previously I chose to become a meteorologist. Currently in the year of 2010, I have heard the opinions of many artists, fellow producers, and people who just have a great love for music and I've greatly improved my style along with my sound quality. With only 3 years of experience with music productions and being completely self taught, I have worked with creating various types of hip hop such as midwest, dirty south, trap, west coast, old school/boom bap, east coast, futuristic, and jerkin beats. Within R&B I have created club, pop, old school R&B, a bit of neo soul, and urban style beats. Without having prior knowledge to blues sounds I even created a blues beat and produced a few gospel beats. The feedback on my music has drastically changed and become much more positive. People have told me that they can tell my whole personality just by hearing some of my music without even meeting me yet. This makes me aware that I have an unforgettable and unique sound that anyone can relate to. This past summer I got in touch with a former member of Goodie Mob by the name of Chief. He basically started to mentor me on the music business and he set up my first trip to a studio out in Gary, Indiana and we made an official track with a beat of mines. We collabed with 2 other local rappers on it and came up with a hit single that we titled "Keep A Strap". Since then, I've been been trying to get my musical abillities noticed by music labels and independent artists as well as A&Rs. I'm now looking for a place where I fit in to make music for the world to hear.
