About My Business:
It seems that everybody these days is talking about the importance of Enterprise Architecture. It also seems that Business Process Management (BPM) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) are front of mind for most organisations. However it seems few have yet realised that these three allied with a less well known concept of Business Capability Modelling (BCM) form the critical foundations to delivering a truly agile business. Furthermore, without all four being used in an integrated fashion all that can be delivered is a marginally lower cost business at best and the business case for doing so will rarely stack up.
Fragile To Agile’s unique approach to Enterprise Architecture incorporates all these concepts in a single integrated approach to business transformation. At Fragile to Agile our core philosophy is driven by our definition of Enterprise Architecture –
“Enterprise Architecture is the alignment of Business Design, People Design and Technology Design to ensure that together they deliver on Business Intent.”.
Ensuring this alignment and a traceable link back to business Intent avoids the dangerous but all too common trap of an “Ivory Tower” architecture.
Our unique Enterprise Architecture Framework was built specifically to support this philosophy and importantly recognises that architecture is both a noun and a verb. Like other frameworks it supports the articulation and categorisation of artefacts, for example current and future state application architectures - Architecture the noun. Uniquely though it was also designed to be the process of designing and implementing change - Architecture the verb.
Our approach covers the entire breadth (from strategy formulation through business case development to project implementation) and depth (from intent articulation to technology infrastructure design) of business transformation. Critically with each piece of the puzzle being underpinned by our framework , “peripheral” issues like governance and assessing a projects level of alignment to strategy, are addressed from the start.
At Fragile to Agile we understand that all successful change begins with the business but also that most change ends with technology. If there isn’t alignment all the way from business strategy to IT implementation then delivering on the much-flaunted “Agile business” will remain a lofty but elusive goal. We call this concept the Agility Pyramid and an organisations Business Capability Model makes designing and building this pyramid possible. Consequently all engagements with Fragile To Agile start with developing (or tailoring) an organisations Business Capability Model. From there all options are open and we will tailor our engagement directly to meet your needs.
