My name is Kahshanna and I have worked in fashion, art, film, tech/engineering, wellness and music as a public relations professional. My areas of expertise include public relations, events, media outreach, social media strategy and collaborative partnerships. What I have retrieved after all these years in fashion, wellness and entertainment is that PR is a game changer. It's the innovation that supports branding, talent, marketing, management, social media, events and collaborative opportunities. We finally have the resources to govern the destiny of our digital footprint and I am pretty excited about that. The years preceding the completion of my public relations certificate program were spent researching wellness and communication and spending a fair amount of time on both sides of the camera. Understanding indigenous cultural traditions, ceremonies and sacred storytelling deepened my reverence and appreciation for Native lifestyles and clarified my approach to patterns and narrative. My intuitive approach to communications are highly influenced by concepts I learned which I nurtured and integrated during this period. My interest in utilizing media to promote awareness about social issues is reflected in a short screenplay I wrote which received accolades from director/producer Bob Degus and producer Aneetha Raja. The experience garnered working on a feature length independent film, White LIes, Black Sheep, as an associate producer, enhanced my ability to manage projects, wrangle and prepare talent and ensure the proposed course of the project was adhered to. The connection between film and online content are invaluable elements of brand telling and creating visibility especially in niche markets. A decade in the fashion and entertainment industry shaped my understanding of how to approach strategic alliances in respective industries, but, let's face it, what's really fashionable is friendship, love, leadership, balance and meaningful social change.
