SABEL Saddlery Bespoke Leather Design for HORSE • HUMAN • HOME Set up by Mia Sabel in October 2008, Mia uses traditional skills gained from the only 2-year, full-time Saddlery course in the UK to create equine products and luxury leather goods, enhanced by her brand, design and marketing experience. SABEL Saddlery & Leather Design appears in a regular pop-up shop at Penny Fielding Beautiful Interiors, 34 Orford Road, London E17 9NJ. Check out events for latest dates. BESPOKE COMMISSIONS (non-equine): commission Mia to make your own special stationery/artist pads, document cases, attaché cases, folios, credit card wallets, bags (including the Stirrup Bag), belts, boxwork, pet collars and leads, watch straps, tool covers, restoration, leather furniture repairs, some upholstery, car seat repair. SADDLERY: all bespoke bridlework made-to-measure, girths and training aids. Some harness parts, spur straps, full chaps, farrier clothing. Commission for prize awards. REPAIRS AND RESTORATION: bridles, headcollars, saddles, replacement girth straps, horse rugs, zips in chaps, bags, restitching, restoration, leather care. CURRENT COMMISSIONS include: prototype bag, doctor's bag, bookbound wedding journal, raised watch straps... LEATHER LOVE SADDLE SOAP: Mia has created her own blend of home-made saddle soap that can be used on all leather items inculding bags, boots and belts as well as saddlery items (except suede and nubuck). It comes in plain, citronella, cinnamon and eucalyptus aromas (essential oils) in several sizes. 8 AWARDS won include a Premium award (80%+) for Level 2 snaffle bridle in Master Saddler's 2010 competition; second prize for stirrup bag and third prize for harness breeching both at Festival of Leather 2010; Leatherseller's award 2010; two first prize Lorinery awards in 2009 for best assignment and exam; first prize for 'forest' utility belt, second prize for 'sewing box' in Innovation category, both at Festival of Leather 2009. Latest Award is from QEST, Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, funding further training in saddlery and leather whilst running the business. Every Friday, Mia also looks after the tack and rugs of 45 horses at Lee Valley Riding Centre, Leyton - tack safety checks, saddle and bridle fitting, repairs and alterations as well as servicing the Livery with repairs and commissions. Mia can offer these services to local stables and Liveries.
