BRIEF BIOGRAPHY Dr. Asa Don Brown is an author, speaker, clinical psychologist and professor. Dr. Brown holds the distinguished recognition of a fellow and diplomate of trauma. He is the author of Interpersonal Skills in the Workplace, Finding Solutions that Work and other publications. While on faculty with a Canadian university, he was hired to write and lecture on the subject matter of Interpersonal Skills and Workplace Conflicts. While his authorship is extensive and he has had the honor of being published in a variety of professional and popular publications; he has also had the privilege of writing regular columns with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association; The SoberWorld Magazine; and Healthy Directions. Dr. Brown has been asked to write a bimonthly column starting in April 2017. He has served a variety of professional boards including: Washington State Counseling Association, WCA; Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, CCPA; Brain Technology & Neuroscience Research Centre, BTNRC; The Society for the Arts in Dementia Care; American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, AAETS; The National Center for Crisis Management, NCCM; to name a few. He has held academic appointments with Thompson Rivers University, Royal Roads University and Grant MacEwan University. Dr. Brown is an international speaker, consultant, and clinician. He has been a keynote speaker at psychological, neurological, optometric, and counseling forums. His books and lectures have transformed the minds of his readers and audiences around the world. Dr. Brown has published the following books: Interpersonal Skills in the Workplace, Finding Solutions that Work, 2016; Waiting to Live, 2010 and The Effects of Childhood Trauma on Adult Perception and Worldview, 2008. As a volunteer, Dr. Brown is continuously seeking new ways to challenge his person. In the past few years, he trained to become a New York State Firefighter. As he trained, he enjoyed the challenge of learning a new academic perspective and the rigorous challenge of becoming a firefighter. Dr. Brown is a New York State Firefighter, Fire Policeman, and an Assistant Chaplain for his department. Dr. Brown’s work as a firefighter has broaden his appreciation for his work in trauma and traumatic recovery. He has further gained an appreciation for brotherhood, unity, relationships, and personal service. As a clinician, while Dr. Brown has worked with a variety of paramilitary, military and first responders; he has gained a deeper appreciation for these individuals once becoming a first responder himself. .
