Clients I'm Seeking:

Bass guitarists of any age or skill level who are looking for expert instruction.

About My Business:

Some bass teachers play in a band but have no musical education or teaching experience. Others have been teaching for years but haven't been on stage in a decade. And then there are those who try to fill your head about what it takes to "make it" in music even though they have never tasted success, even at the local level. Wouldn't it be great if you could find a bass guitar instructor who has it all: a musical education, over 15 years of teaching experience and who currently plays 200 shows a year with the area's top bands? How's this for a kicker - what if that same person was a signed to a label, was a published composer and had an endorsement deal from a major gear manufacturer? If this sounds like your ideal bass guitar instuctor, then allow me to introduce myself - my name is Dave DeMarco and I run Maryland Bass Lessons. I have two MD locations - Baltimore and Burtonsville/Silver Spring. My students are a diverse lot: there are beginners and home hobbyists, working professional players and everything in between. Serving all walks of bassist requires a highly individualized approach which tailors the scope of the lessons around each player's goals. This is something you won't see at any of the McLessons shops., where more often than not, the "bass teacher" isn't even a real bassist - he's a guitarist trying to make a few extra bucks giving bass lessons. Whether you're starting from scratch or whether you're a weekend warrior rocking the Beltway circuit, I'll take the time to create a comprehensive lesson plan designed to help you achieve your goals. When you study with me, you'll have the confidence of knowing that the time-tested skills and techniques you learn are being used by countless pros. And for those of you looking to make a name for yourself as a career musician, think of me as your personal consultant. While bass guitar is my primary instrument, I'm also proficient on drums and keyboards and I use both during lessons so that students can get valuable experience accompanying other instruments. If you are currently in a band you'll appreciate this since it allows you to get comfortable with a tricky bass part before performing it live. One last thing - about two years ago I began serving the international bass community by offering lessons via Skype. I have students in 6 countries as well as in several states. I also have local students who, due to their busy schedules, prefer to take lessons from home. Lessons via Skype allows you to save money on gas as well as save time commuting to and from lessons and best of all, the lessons look and function just like in-person lessons.
