Clients I'm Seeking:

I am looking for parents who want to help their children address issues related to learning, both academic and socio-emotional. I am also looking for male clients who want or need to address challenges related to anger, anxiety/depression, chronic pain or addiction.

About My Business:

** Call me for a free 30 minute consultation 604-440-1968! Your benefits from working with me include the following: 1) greater resourcefulness in meeting challenges in your personal, relational and professional lives; 2) know yourself better; 3) experience greater feelings of calm and contentment; 4) find freedom from unhelpful habits; 5) enjoy a greater sense of purpose. My work has been endorsed by Ken Wilber, author of Integral Psychology and founder of Integral Institute. Ken says, "Durwin has been a serious student of my work for over seven years, has dialogued with me on many occasions, and has published several professional articles applying my integral approach to counselling and psychotherapy. But beyond knowing the theory very well, Durwin is a competent, dedicated, insightful and compassionate counsellor. In choosing to work with Durwin, you can be confident that you are choosing a path towards feeling better." I have assisted clients to successfully address addictions, including relapse prevention; anxiety and depression; anger; and, chronic pain (together with Dr. Ian Johnson , PhD). I view good therapy as combining art and science in a way that addresses the whole person in context. I bring to my practice both formal education and extensive personal experience working with several master therapists and life teachers. In terms of formal education, I completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, and am certified at the national level through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) . I also completed all required doctoral level coursework and training in supervision, while completing research on the benefits of mindfulness training through receipt of the Mind and Life Institute’s Varela Memorial Award. I have published several articles on counselling therapy and practice in peer-reviewed journals, including Counseling & Values, Journal of Integral Theory & Practice, and Constructivism in the Human Sciences. I take seriously the idea that in order to be an effective helper, one must engage in ongoing professional development. To this end, I have completed trainings in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) with Dr. Zindel Segal, Interpersonal Neurobiology with Dr. Dan Siegel, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Dr. Steven Hayes. A close student of Ken Wilber’s for the past seven years, I employ an integral approach to help integrate these diverse methods in service of the best possible outcomes for you. I encourage you to talk to me. Call me now for a free 30 minute consultation a 604-440-1968!
