About My Business:


Mr. Engle has been involved in visual arts and communications as a consultant, designer, teacher and lecturer for over 40 years. The design office he founded served a diverse array of clients such as: Bank of America, General Telephone & Electronics, IBM Corporation, National Broadcasting Company, KCET, the Southwest Museum, and Unocal Corporation. International recognition and numerous awards have helped to establish Ray Engle & Associates as one of the preeminent design offices in the United States. The U.S. Department of Commerce selected an Engle produced identity program as part of an international exhibit called “Design USA”, which displayed the best American design in the decade of the 1970's. The exhibit received wide acclaim in New York, London and Moscow. The International Center for Typographic Arts cited two corporate identity programs designed by Engle as examples of the best graphic design of the 20th century. The efforts of the Engle office have been honored by such prestigious organizations as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the New York Art Directors Club, the Type Directors Society, the Professional Photographers of Southern California, and the Art Museum Association of America. Engle received a Cannes Film Festival award for a documentary on retarded children. Born in Canada, Engle moved to Los Angeles to study design at the Art Center College of Design. After graduating with honors, he served on the faculty for over 27 years. He received his master's degree in design from UCLA. He was also on the faculty at Otis College of Art and Design, American Intercontinental University, Cal State Northridge, and in 2002 was a visiting professor at the University of Ljubljana. Rayl Engle has, authored articles on many aspects of marketing and design, lectured, taught, conducted seminars, and served on juries for professionally sponsored exhibitions of marketing, advertising, design, and photography. He has gained recognition as an authority on art, photography, and architectural design. Mr. Engle served as a docent at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, leading tours and training docents in many aspects of art education and art history. His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the International Center for Typographic Arts, and the Society of Art Center Alumni (as past president). He is listed in Who's Who in California and International Men of Achievement.
