About My Business:

Born on Sept 13th 1984 in Reading, England Gemma Betts went to school at Maiden Erlegh Comprehensive and shined as a passionate and driven pupil who particularly excelled at the arts and quickly started to produce work that pushed the boundaries of what was considered as “art”, one piece in particular, a full latex mold of Gemma being hung from the ceilings to represent a 3D visual art piece inspired by Salvador Dali’s melting bodies created such controversy that it later had to be removed. Gemma Betts has always been interested in the arts, and pushing creative limitations. Quickly photography became her major passion and after studying photography and digital imaging for 4 years her freelance career was already underway, having already been commissioned for a worldwide advertising campaign for Marcelle May; an international fashion accessory brand whilst still in her studies her name was becoming known in the fashion industry. Her work featured in The Evening Post as “the one to watch “with “picture perfect” photos. Her photos also got featured in The Sunday Times Style Magazine. Her photos have always stood out from other photographers due to her iconic style. Her hyper colour, vibrant images lend themselves perfectly to advertising commissions, her graphical and edgy black and white images are very current for the market today, and even her commercial side has a level of detail and crispness that shows the pride and effort she takes in her work. People are Gemma Betts’ passion, and she is lucky enough to get to photograph many types of interesting personalities, from Hollywood celebrities like Pamela Anderson for an international campaign to an unsigned artist wanting to make sure they promote their career with the best possible images they can get. Winning photographer of the month for Saavy promoted Gemma Betts’ work internationally and opened doors to have interviews with model site Modelgraphy, online fashion forum Medium Magazine and be featured in the photographer’s edition of high end fashion magazine Gazelland. Gemma Betts has had many commissions to produce front covers for magazine’s like Athletics Weekly, Ittgirl and Boyz magazine to name a few. Leading onto editorial pieces for G3 magazine and celebrity pieces for the site Lovegirls Having the opportunity to work with top men’s couture fashion label Orschel-Read allowed Gemma Betts to break from the convention of normal commercial brands, allowing her to put some creative flare on the images by involving frozen extreme movements within the images. Her work has been widely used on Vogue Online in collaboration with Penhaligon’s luxury goods, which came about from a national campaign with Molton Brown. It lead on to also working with some other luxury brands including the American skin care brand Erno Laszlo and the French perfumery L’Artisian. Working with these high end luxury good brands endorsed the quality of work Gemma Betts produces. She maintains a close working relationship with them and works as the photographer representing them for many campaigns.
