About My Business:

 

Mark Hunter LaVigne, APR, FCPRS, has 24 years’ experience as a media relations specialist. For the past 17 years, he has operating his own media relations and media training firm, Hunter LaVigne Communications Inc. For seven years prior to that, he worked for PR agencies in downtown Toronto. Prior to his career in public relations, he worked as a radio journalist for five years in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto. He has a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and English from York University. He has taught media relations at Seneca at York and Ryerson, and has guest lectured on that subject widely including at McGill, McMaster, and York universities and various colleges across the country. He has also designed and delivered workshops for private training firms as well as the Canadian Public Relations Society. He is an award winning, accredited member (APR) of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), and a member of the CPRS College of Fellows (FCPRS). He has published a textbook on media relations, “Making Ink and Airtime,” which is in its second edition, and wrote the media relations chapter in an upcoming textbook on public relations to be published next year by University of Alberta Press. He has also published a children’s book, “The Adventures of Matilda the Tooth Fairy,” and writes and performs music on acoustic guitar, harmonica, ukulele and vocals with his band The Coyotes, whose first CD “Out of the Woods” can be found on iTunes amongst various portals. A father of four, he lives in Aurora, Ontario.
