About My Business:

As the daughter of a former salesman, I started my “career” on the floor of my family’s traveling sales company. When you grow up with business all around you–you tend to see things differently. “What problem can you solve and who can you solve it for?” I was a teenager when Dad asked me that question and I am obsessed with the answer because it’s what business is about. But that’s not my only love. With a mother who required daily essays on black history before summertime play, I also fell in love with words. However, it was a homework assignment in the 4th grade that birthed a lifetime relationship with poetry as a way to express my thoughts and make my point. But I quickly learned that loving words and knowing how to use them aren’t the same thing. Communication, the conversation between you and your audience–no matter the size, turns your words into a message that matters. I learned to channel my love for words (and for people) into live performances, keynote speeches, training programs and most importantly—relationships. And today I am still in love with words and business and what they can do in a community, in a relationship, in your marketing and for your bottom line. Currently, I’m developing “Simply Business: The 6 Communication Questions That Drive Every Business And How To Answer Them In Style.” I write a weekly column at and teach executives, business owners, artists and writers how to talk—online and to the team of people that supports their dream. I was born in the South, raised traveling the US and write for business and pleasure. And I just may pick up a mic to give a keynote, teach a seminar or speak a poem.
