About My Business:
I have experience with digital/tech companies as well as non-tech. And I have worked in traditional start-up environments and launched businesses inside large corporations (such as Disney and Reed Elsevier).
Generally, I get involved when the product is ready (or nearly ready) to be commercialized, and the early stage company lacks the "DNA" to really work the sales and marketing plan.
While strategy is important, what sets me apart from most is that I get heavily involved in execution. I'm the guy building the PowerPoint, going on the sales call, creating the financial model in Excel, setting up the booth at the trade show, getting on planes, and looking customers in the eye. I hate the ivory tower! The only way sales and marketing works - especially early on - is if they are integrated and the people running the operation are hands on. Otherwise, too much valuable learning is lost.
