I am looking for clients wanting specialist custom artwork, highly detailed pencil artwork, fine art, graphics and metal sculptural work.

About My Business:

Having bluffed my way through some minor career blips in the Royal Marines, the fire service and more recently some security and boat work, I've finally reverted back to my artwork. I moved to South Ronaldsay on Orkney with my wife Clare and two children Jordan kate and Greig in 1996...... and we've been here ever since. I have been drawing and sketching pretty much as far back as I can remember. At school the only subjects I was ever really any good at were art, technical drawing and football. In fact I painfully remember many a good doodle being ruined during maths lessons back then by an accurately thrown black board rubber. Possibly those bangs on the head explain a great deal? As I grew older and started my working career, I was still doodling, and increasingly being asked to draw things out for folk. It seemed throughout my time in both the services and civvy street, I was constantly being told, 'You're wasted in this job, with work like that you should be doing artwork for a living'. Though I did wonder on one or two occassions whether they were just trying to get rid of me? But when in 2006 I finally got the opportunity to give my artwork a proper go, it really just had to be done, so here I am. Artistic influences and objectives? 'Yeah okay!' ........ I don't really have any particular artistic influences and objectives, other than good artwork done really well and trying to improve the work I do myself. I'm not at all an 'Arty Farty' type of person, and to be completely honest, pretentious 'Arty Bull' and those who spout it irritate me immensely. I simply doodle, draw out, and then whack paint onto things. I like any work that looks good from a distance and still looks as good when you get right in close. Hardly surprising then that, that is the kind of work I try and produce myself. Being a perfectionist and a bit of a detail freak, the finest details are important to me, whether it be the fine detail in my artwork, or the fine technical attention to detail that makes for a job done well. I believe that any visual artwork should work on whatever level by itself, without the need to be explained. My maybe simplistic attitude is that, if any artwork needs to be explained to work for the onlooker, then in all probability the artist simply hasn't done their job right.
