Clients I'm Seeking:

I am seeking adolescent and adult clients for professional counseling. The following are specialties: substance abuse and addictions, anxiety and depression, life direction, including career and spiritual issues, and relationship/family concerns- often utilizing family therapy.

About My Business:

If you are considering counseling, congratulations! This can be a big step for anyone. I am passionate about developing a healthy self and empowering others to enjoy and succeed in their relationships. My goal is to walk with clients through life challenges and help them live life to the full. Getting technical, cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented therapy are the two main approaches you will find used in my practice. However, an eclectic mix of theories and techniques will be used to best fit you and your unique circumstances. I specialize in work with adolescents and adults, counseling individuals, groups, couples and families. Though my expertise and skill is not limited to the following, these are the most common areas of my practice:  Anxiety and its various forms, including OCD  Depression, mood disorders, self-harm, and suicidal thinking  Relationship/family concerns, involving boundaries, codependency, and communication  Substance abuse and various addictions  Life direction, plus career counseling and spiritual concerns My professional training includes a Master’s in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Crown College in Minnesota. A Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, I am also a National Certified Counselor and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. In addition to my work in private practice, I function as a counselor in a hospital setting at University Behavioral Health in Denton. Prior to Haven Counseling, I provided both intensive and general counseling services at the nationally renowned Meier Clinics, where I also received professional development training. Additionally, I served as program director for an adolescent substance abuse program at The Addicare Group of Texas. Some of my interests and hobbies include playing guitar, piano, and percussion, teaching children music, community involvement with kids, and outdoor pursuits such as kayaking, road trips, and exploring Dallas.
