About My Business:

 

I specialize in counselling people living with chronic pain and other persistent health concerns. My approach to care involves listening and learning from my clients to determine the best way to help. I believe that a strong therapeutic alliance between counsellor and client is the most important factor influencing a successful outcome. I strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment that is free from judgement where exploration rather than expectation is encouraged. I am chosen by my clients to accompany them on a shared journey towards a better life despite chronic pain, disability, or injury. I counsel adults and youth, individuals, couples, families and groups. All potential clients are welcomed for a no cost initial consultation. This informal meet and greet session allows us to connect with each other, share questions, and decide on an initial treatment plan. You can expect to spend between 30 - 60 minutes with me on your first visit. You can use this initial consultation to help you decide whether my style of counselling feels like a good fit for you. If my knowledge and experience can be helpful for you, we can design a treatment schedule that works with your needs. You may also wish to use the consultation to discuss any concerns you may feel about counselling. When we spend time together in a counselling session, I will work collaboratively with you to learn about your life and concerns. You will always be free to share as much information as you wish. Your information will always be held in strict confidence. In each counselling session I may use various strategies to support you including asking questions, mindfulness techniques, cognitive exercises, or biofeedback. Based on your needs, one or more techniques may better suit you. Often I employ active listening to assist you to clarify and develop your thoughts. While I will have a plan for our session, sometimes our plan will change to accommodate your needs. I offer support and guidance to you however only you can make decisions regarding your future. My role as your counsellor is to provide a safe and supportive environment free from judgement and negativity. Here you are free to explore your thoughts and feelings. Counselling may offer new ways for you to view problems or concerns. You may find inspiration, skills, and strategies to cope with your health concerns. It is my sincere wish that you will benefit from our time together and move forth in your life with greater health and wellness.
