About My Business:


North Texas Veteran Technology Service Corps North Texas Veteran Technology Service Corps (TSC) works with leading corporations to provide qualified veterans with free IT training, professional skills mentoring, apprenticeships, job placement services and brighter futures through careers in IT. The TSC provides motivated veterans the skills to be junior technologists by providing intensive training in computer troubleshooting, basic management and maintenance of a network, introduction to databases, website production and development, as well as coaching around professional development skills. Our program is entirely free for students, innovative technology training which includes hands-on project-based work and a modest performance based stipend during the apprenticeship phase. Eligibility Requirements: * 21-40 year old * Serving in US Military or veteran * Honorable Discharge * Desire and an Interest in Technology * Successfully complete the application process, (Includes a hands-on and written assessment, background check, urinalysis test) * A willingness to give 30 hours a week to program. 20 hours a week in class, and 10 hours a week outside of class. Our program is entirely free for veteran students. It offers innovative technology training which includes hands-on, project-based work and a modest stipend during the apprenticeship phase. Each seat cost about $10,000. The next class will start January 2015. 20 weeks total. There will be a morning and afternoon session. Morning classes will be offered from 9am to 1pm, afternoon classes will be 2pm to 6pm. Curriculum The program is offered in 2 phases: A technical and professional skills phase-13 weeks Apprenticeship or internship phase-minimum of 7 weeks Phase 1: Technical Skills-We are a Cisco approved academy. The program utilizes Cisco Networking Academy curriculum. Towards A+ Certification (Program Pays for Certification) Participants work in groups and independently Hands on lessons begin in first week of curriculum Professional Skills- Our Fridays are reserved for volunteer led workshops and corporate site visits. Workshops and site visits will be offered during both sessions. Examples of professional skills training provided: Resume Writing Learning Assessments Career Overview Self-Exploration Exercises Stress Management Time Management Resume Building & Cover Letters Mock Interviews Phase 2: Apprenticeship phase- A minimum of seven weeks of paid work experience at corporation or non-profit organization to provide the veteran with hands-on experience. The students work 32 hours a week gaining valuable hands-on IT experience. The cost to organizations sponsoring a 7 week Apprenticeship is $4500 per student. Alumni Graduates from this program are provided job placement assistance. Additional training is available to all alumni. The program also offers a solid network with unlimited leads.
