Creators and producers of entertainment (film, TV, radio, music, live performance) seeking to maximize the potential of their endeavors. Also schools and universities interested in offering their students what they need to know about entertainment history (music, movies, TV, radio, the theatre, etc.) in order to build upon what came before and succeed in the 21st century entertainment industry.

About My Business:

Creative entertainment executive with strong leadership and communication skills. Global experience in creative direction; concept, product and business development; radio/TV production/writing/programming; direct-to-consumer target marketing; publishing; team building; problem solving and imaging/marketing for $100+ MM businesses. Producer of multiple gold and platinum albums. Award-winning radio/TV programmer, producer, performer, scriptwriter, teacher and entertainment historian. An "ideas man." Gary Theroux spent 20 years as the Music & Entertainment Editor of Reader’s Digest, strategizing, directing teams and helping to manage the company’s Home Entertainment Division, which marketed entertainment products in 33 countries. He personally created, programmed, produced and annotated more than 300 CD/DVD releases which collectively have sold over 39 million copies. Theroux’s background in radio, combined with deep knowledge and understanding of music and pop cultures of all eras and genres, allows him to create definitive collections in a broad spectrum of styles. A founder of Reader’s Digest Video, Gary created many of their biggest TV triumphs, from America In The ‘40s (PBS) and Legends Of Comedy (Disney) to An Old-Fashioned Christmas (syndicated). He also put together such award-winning series and specials as Remembering The ‘70s, Elvis, On A Country Road (with Lee Arnold), In Touch (with Kris Erik Stevens), The Golden Years, The Halloween Spooktacular and the 52-hour History Of Rock ‘n’ Roll (winner of Billboard’s “Top Special Program Of The Year” award). The author of countless articles, liner notes and several books, Theroux is a former format designer/programmer and Director of Special Features for radio syndicator Drake-Chenault Enterprises. A longtime DJ, actor, narrator, commercial spokesman, scriptwriter and UCLA instructor, Gary is also a dedicated entertainment historian, maintaining over 250,000 files (bios, photos, reviews, etc.) on more than a century of hit music, films and TV programming. Since 2003 he has worked as a producer-writer-narrator for The Intervale Group and, since 2007, as a managing producer-head writer for Armstrong Interactive. Theroux's a featured speaker with the Institute for International Film Financing and one of the 25 industry leaders on the Nominating Committee of The Hit Parade Hall of Fame. He's a 2009 Emmy nominee and has also just finished a rollicking new Christmas comedy screenplay.
