About My Business:

WORK EXPERIENCE: After spending over 20 years as an IT Director, I made a 180 degree turn in 2003 when both my parents needed care. I chose real estate as a full time career because it offered the flexibility I needed in my personal life. I was very accustomed to corporate contract negotiation as well as contract “legal ease” so the most complex aspects of real estate were really fairly easy adjustments. With my tech background, I was able to ride the real estate tech wave with ease and used my voiceover background to provide a bit of an “added flair” to my on line listings. Never being afraid to be in front of an audience, I soon found myself teaching pre-licensing courses to new REALTORS® as well as Continuing Education courses to seasoned professionals. The teaching aspect is incredibly important to me as it allows me to stay on top of the changing world of real estate and lending laws. MY BEST QUALITY: The glass is always half full, even though difficult to see when you think the sky is falling or your dreams are crashing down around you. Obstacles are really only temporary setbacks. Buying or selling a home is one of the most stressful situations anyone will face and I know I’m doing my job well when a Client says “Thanks, John. I just needed someone to listen.” FAVORITE VACATION SPOT: Anywhere by the water. A lake, river, ocean, even just a stream or brook is truly one of nature’s finest masterpieces. THE PERSON WHO INFLUENCED ME MOST AND WHY: Hands down, my Dad. It took me well into adulthood before I really understood the inner workings of a complex, sensitive individual who would protect anyone he cared about. “No” was not part of his vocabulary and whether involved with the PTA, Cub Scouts, Church or Food Pantries, he was on the go. He loved to make people smile and was a safe haven for anyone in need. I am always proud when someone tells me “you’re just like your Dad.” Truth be told, if I could be half the man he was I will be happy with the legacy I leave. LITTLE KNOWN FACT: On my days off, I operate antique trolley cars. I’ve also been spotted as the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Great Pumpkin and love to make kids (and adults) laugh. I’m also a voiceover artist and have done everything from commercials for Bombay Sapphire to corporate instructional videos for cement mixers. I’ve even done a couple of infomercials! I’m very involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and am a certified support group leader and have been involved with the New Haven Memory Walk committee and I’ve found myself in the top five fundraisers for the past four years. Name a big band song, I can sing it cold; maybe that’s why I enjoy “sing a longs” with seniors.
