About My Business:

History Alive! is committed to the production of new plays and theatrical scenarios based on true stories from the past. Emphasis is given to interactive theatre so that actors and audience together, through a playful and dynamic way of engaging with history, might broaden their understanding of the present and gain a fresh sense of purpose within their own era. The company also seeks to invigorate the local economy by designing activities which connect the community and its visitors to a distinct, local history. By hiring a mix of students and more established actors, the company functions as a training program for actors entering theatre as professionals. Our best known piece is "Cry Innocent: the people versus Bridget Bishop". Cry Innocent is a reenactment of the pretrial of accused witch, Bridget Bishop, in 1692. Cry Innocent has played to about 440,000 people, about half of whom are middle and high school students. We have been featured on The Travel Channel, the Discovery Kids, and The Learning Channel. Our company has been contracted by a host of production companies to help recreate scenes for projects aired on PBS, The History Channel, A&E.
