About My Business:
Adite Banerjie is a journalist by training and has 20+ years’ experience as a writer and researcher. She has worked with some of the leading Indian publications, including Business Today, The Economic Times and Sunday magazine. Since 2006, she has taken up professional screenwriting and has found her journalism background to be of immense help in creating stories that are humane, unique and entertaining. She has also worked as a freelance reporter/writer in the area of social development for UNICEF and Plan India, among others.
In March 2012, Adite was a winner of the Harlequin Mills & Boon Aspiring Authors 2012 Contest. She is currently developing her first romance novel for the publishing house which publishes romance novels in more than 50 countries.
She has written several screenplays:
Commissioned to write a drama script based on a true-life story for Tanzania-based Indian filmmaker Runjiv Kapur.
Co-written a spec family comedy titled All Adrift.
A script titled The Teacher has been shortlisted for the Sundance-Mumbai Mantra Screenwriters Lab 2013.
Written an English feature (comedy) script called Finding Father.
Written a high-concept English feature (action-thriller) script called The Deal Maker.
Courses Done in Screenwriting
Done the four-day Robert McKee Story Seminar in Hyderabad (February 2012)
Completed a 6-month online screenwriting course “Proseries” (November07 - April 08) organized by www.screenwritingu.com and have written an action-thriller feature during the course. As part of the screenwriting course, attended a 4-day event in Los Angeles where I interacted with 20 top Hollywood producers and screenwriters. Also done the Comedy Course, Subtext Course and the Fresh & Edgy Writing online courses of ScreenwritingU.com.
Done a 10-day online course on comedy scriptwriting (October 2006).
Done a 3-day workshop on screenwriting with a Hollywood and Cannes-award-winning screenwriter Tom Abrams. (September 2006).
Done a five-day course on scriptwriting under the guidance of Hollywood director and screenwriter Krishna Shah (January 2005).
Researched and written scripts for television documentaries, business programmes, corporate films and current affairs programmes. Wrote the scripts for Road to Rangoon, a documentary on Indo-Burma relations; The Hostage Drama, a documentary on terrorism in Kashmir. These were telecast on Doordarshan’s National Channel.
